Personal Statement
My name is Melissa Lyn and I am a Seattle Promise Retention Specialist at North Seattle College. I assist Seattle Promise students beginning in the spring of their senior year in high school and throughout their subsequent two-year educational journey at North. I advise students pursing the following areas:
Arts, Design, and Graphics
Social Sciences, Humanities, & Language
As a Retention Specialist I serve as an academic advisor and wrap around support specialist. I provide guidance on how to navigate the college experience and provide support in finding solutions to a variety of barriers that arise for students pursuing higher education. My goal is to help students understand their options and to empower them to make choices that are right for them.
Our hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm. Typically, I'm on campus on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. And on Thursdays and Fridays I work virtually.
