Personal Statement

My name is Katie Bates and I am a Retention Specialist for the Seattle Promise Program. I am the Seattle Promise Re-Entry Retention Specialist. I work with Central, North and South campuses.

With my role as the Re-Entry Retention Specialist, I help students who were previously a part of Seattle Promise Re-Enter their classes. This includes help with navigating Financial Aid requirements, understanding what it takes to stay eligible for Seattle Promise, getting set for registration, and connecting you to a Retention Specialist at the particular campus you want to attend.

Before joining Seattle Promise, I worked at Bellevue College as a Navigator to ESL, ABE, High School + and I-BEST students. I have also worked in TRiO at Highline College and advised for Seattle University. My first professional role was working in a non-profit in Atlanta, GA.  I received my Bachelor degree from Gonzaga University and my Masters of Education from Seattle University.

• My office hours are from 8am to 4:30pm Monday -Friday. If you need to meet with me outside these hours, please email me to let me know.
• I am on South's campus every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
• I am remote on Monday and Fridays.
• I am available to meet with North and Central students remotely on Monday - Friday.
