Personal Statement

I have been having fun learning and teaching Sociology since 2002.  The fullness and clarity that the Sociological Perspective lends to the understanding and interpretation of our human experiences fascinates me, and I know that it will enrich your world view too!

I began teaching Sociology at the University of Washington in 2010. There, I taught Introduction to Sociology, Deviance and Social Control, and Criminology. I learned a lot about teaching in the university setting, and was elated when I learned about an opportunity to teach at NSC in 2012. The only thing that could have made life better at that point happened when I married my best friend and partner in October of that same year. After a few years of fun at North, I took a year off to teach at Green River College from 2015-2016, and am ecstatic to have returned to North Seattle College in the summer of 2016. I have been having a blast teaching and learning from North's awesome students ever since!

Before all of that, I grew up in Seattle, and attended NSC and the UW.  I've worked at various hard-labor and service jobs and am owned by a cat and dog.

Please do feel free to contact me with any questions that you have about me, the courses I teach, or anything else you are curious about!
