Personal Statement

My name is Dani Blackman and I am an English instructor and the Faculty Development Coordinator. I have been teaching at North Seattle College since 2008. I have a BA in Creative Writing from Florida State University and an MFA in fiction from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. When I am not teaching, I am often working on my own writing, reading, gardening, collecting vintage, creating yard art, and spending time with my child and puppy. In the classroom, I focus on building student connection, forming community, and giving space to explore, understand, and develop individual learning and work processes.
