Alex Milan

Personal Statement

My name is Alex Milan (she/her/hers). 

I am a proud two-year college grad and transfer student. I earned my A.A. from Burlington County College, B.A. from Rutgers University, and M.Ed. from the University of Washington.  Prior to my work at the Seattle Colleges, I worked with as a Community Programs Supervisor with Community Schools Collaboration and the YMCA to manage in class support volunteers, after school tutoring, and partner with community organizations to lead enrichment programming for middle and high school students.  I began working at the Seattle Colleges in 2017, first with TRiO Educational Opportunity Center at South Seattle College.  In 2018, I transitioned to the Seattle Promise program, first as an Outreach Specialist, then Retention Specialist, and now serve as the Director of Student Retention.

As the Director of Student Retention for the Seattle Promise program at the Seattle Colleges, I lead a team of equity focused, student centered individuals to increase the retention and success rates of recent Seattle high school graduates.  The Promise program supports students with funding, pathway planning, and individualized assistance navigating the college journey.
