Personal Statement
Scott Bean, IEL and ESL
I'm a native of Washington State, and I earned my bachelor's degrees in French and English from the University of Washington. After graduating, I went to Japan to teach English in a high school for three years, and then I moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where I earned my master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language.
My first job out of graduate school was at the American University of Armenia, where I taught for about two and a half years. I then returned to Japan, where I stayed for another fourteen years, teaching at two different universities. I moved back to Seattle in 2015, and I started teaching in the Intensive English Program at South Seattle College soon after. I have also taught in Basic and Transitional Studies at South.
